As a wildfire continues to devastate Alberta, Canada with 100,000 being displaced, Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump blamed the fire on recent Syrian refugees.
Canada has allowed 20,000 Syrian refugees to settle in Alberta. Locals have not reported any altercations because of the refugees, but that won’t stop Trump from telling people what happened.
Trump Told supporters, “You know the fire? The big Canadian fire? I bet a Syrian refugee started the big Canadian fire. And it’s a very big fire.”
Luckily, winds have changed the course of the fire towards the wilderness, but 300,000 acres and the town of Fort McMurray has been destroyed. Scientists say climate change have increased wildfires in North America over the past 15 years. The fire is so large it can be seen from space and officials are concerned it could double in size.
“The fire has nothing to do with global warming, nothing at all,” said Trump. “It’s an immigration problem.”
“Those people cause fires wherever they go. You don’t need to be an expert to know it’s them. I don’t know; maybe it’s part of their religion. But why take a chance. Fires are terrible and I’m totally against fires, okay.”
“If Canada can’t get the fire under control, they are getting a big wall next. Maybe Ted Cruz can be useful and go back home and fix the problem, would probably make it worse.”
“Those Canadians sure voted for an idiot for president.”
