“I thought deep and hard and decided it wouldn’t be fair to win the Republican Presidential nominee with only ten percent of the primary vote,” John Kasich told supporters Sunday afternoon. “While I adamantly dislike my opponents, Trump and Cruz, it’s not right to win via underhanded backroom political maneuvering.”

Kasich, who only won his home state of Ohio, had wanted to gain momentum going into the brokered Republican Convention in July. This was his only possibility to be named the Republican nominee after the voters said no. Half of his 147 delegates came from Ohio. He only reached double digit delegates in one other state. By comparison, Trump had scored double-digit delegates in 23 states. Even former candidate Marco Rubio had 11 states in double digits.

“The American people are tired of secret politics and I was adding to this undemocratic practice. And I’m sorry for that, I truly am,” said Kasich. “It’s very obvious that the people don’t want me to be president. They showed it by not voting for me, not donating much money, and not showing up to my events.

“I wanted to believe I had a chance by being the sane option at the Republican convention, but this campaign turned into an addiction. The right thing to do is step out of the race. I did enjoy talking to the dozens of people who showed up to my town halls and my staff did a great job of getting my name and policy out to the people. But at the end of the day, the people wanted someone different. It’s been a strange political race and the timing wasn’t in my corner.”

Ted Cruz’s campaign is very happy about Kasich stepping out of the race. “State after state after state, he only got ten percent of the vote. It was obvious since Iowa that the people didn’t want him. I’m glad he finally came to his senses and dropped out,” said Cruz. “I’m more than happy to represent his supporters and take the fight to Trump the Bully. With your support, we can slay the loud mouth New Yorker.”

Trump took a sarcastic tone about Kasich dropping out of the presidential race. “Was he still running? Thought he died or quit a few months ago. With astronomically small percentage points it’s easy to not see him. I just remember him boring everyone at the debates,” said Trump. “However, he ran a good race for a weirdo. Let’s face it, he said some weird things to people at those town halls. He tried way to hard to relate to people. It was just weird. He’s a weirdo.

“But I’m pleased he no longer wants to steal and cheat his way into office by getting my hard earned delegates in a sleazy backroom deal at a Hyatt hotel in Cleveland. He’s just a loser and that’s okay. Losers lose, that’s what they do. I’m a winner and all I do is win, win, win.

“The next loser to get out of this race is Ted. Lying Ted’s days are numbered. Let me tell you, even his co-workers hate him. I don’t know how he could get a woman to sleep with him once let alone three times. He should be proud of that impossible achievement.

“But as for Kasich, he did the right thing. When no one votes for you, you shouldn’t have the possibility to win the Republican race.”
