Democratic Presidential Candidate Hillary Clinton said she would nominate Barack Obama to the Supreme Court if President. “Obama is very qualified. He graduated from Harvard Law School and fully understands the constitution like no one else,” said Clinton. “He would be fair and with many important cases on the horizon, I can’t think of anyone more in touch with the soul of America.”
Obama’s former colleagues are very pleased with the announcement. “This is even better than a third presidential term for Obama,” said Democratic strategist and former Obama staff member David Axelrod. “He can continue to help America for decades to come. And it’s a smart move by Hillary to announce this nomination to help secure the black vote and separate herself from Sanders. I absolutely love this idea.”
If Obama were to be nominated and confirmed, this would be the second time a US President served on the Supreme Court bench. William Taft, the 27th President, was nominated to the bench after his presidency in 1921, replacing the judge he had nominated while in the Oval Office 20 years prior.
Obama has already been deeply vetted and the public is very aware of where he stands on key issues. If the Democrats hold onto the Senate in 2016, it is highly likely Obama would be confirmed and would be able to stand his ground against Republican scrutiny.
The White House released a statement saying, “The President is extremely honored to be on Hillary’s list to be a Supreme Court Justice and feels he could serve the position with tremendous integrity and ad valuable insight.
“Also, the President would be very interested in continuing to serve the American people as he has done for the past fifteen years in yet another very important role.”
The Republicans Strike Back
Republicans are livid at the notion Obama would be nominated to the Supreme Court.
“The only thing thing worse than Obama nominating a judge is being one himself,” said Republican candidate Ted Cruz. “As an attorney myself, I can tell you he knows nothing of judging cases and certainly would not follow the constitution. He would destroy the constitution more than he already has. You can say goodbye to the Second Amendment and say hello to people being able to marry their pets.”
“Get ready for the most liberal court ever if Obama is allowed to be on Supreme Court. We know this was the liberal democratic socialists plan the whole time. They think of the man as Jesus, but we all know he’s the anti-Christ. It would be the biggest sin ever to happen in the history of the world. It really is true, Hillary and liberal friends are Hell bent on destroying America from within.”
Donald Trump said if he’s elected president he will lock up Obama in prison and “Throw away the keys.”
Marco Rubio said, “If you vote full Trump, I bet he will nominate Obama too. So vote for me before it’s too late.”
