After retaining a single-digit percent vote in the Iowa Caucus, Jeb Bush left a tearful voicemail to his father’s cellphone. George H. W. Bush played the recording early this morning during breakfast at a restaurant filled with reporters. His poor hearing demanded he use speakerphone, and many in attendance overheard Jeb’s comments.
A reporter from USA Today claims the sobering message apologized for “getting crushed” in Iowa and stated that Donald Trump was a bully and Ted Cruz was mean to him.
“Everyone is jumping off my campaign like rats, Dad. My campaign manager compared me to the plague in a meeting last night, with me in the room,” the weeping Bush said.
Jeb asked his father for advice, money, and to call him back immediately.
We contacted Jeb’s brother, George W. Bush, who said he wasn’t aware Jeb was still in the race. “Weren’t the elections last year?”
