Presidential candidate, Ben Carson told PBS’s Charlie Rose he worked for the FBI as an informant within the Black Panthers from 1977-79. However, the FBI denies this claim, and there is no record of Carson being a member of the Black Panthers or ever having contact with the FBI.
Carson went on to tell a story where he was almost outed as a spy but got out of it by outsmarting the Panthers through a series of lies and cunning actions. “It was scary, but it was cool. Your adrenaline really gets going. I was like James Bond but without the tuxedo.”
He said his Panther name was Reggie Ace and was in the inner circle of the black power movement. “I was always the youngest guy in the room. I got all the girls and got the best table at every soul food joint across this great nation.”
‘Ace,’ as he said he was called, would practice his speech and movement in order to fit in with the ranking Panther members. His knife handling abilities came in handy too when things got rough. The FBI gave him $350 to buy a new wardrobe for the job. The FBI denies this expenditure to Carson.
He then further claims he foiled several plots to begin mass riots among America’s cities; New York, Chicago, and Los Angeles. “The late 70s would have been very turbulent without my incredible spying ability.”
The stories being told in front of majority white, old crowds are very well received. Carson’s campaign believe the white vote is the most important and that blacks will vote democrat. Campaign manager Darrell Thompson told BET, “Haters are going to hate. We play to the Republican base; that’s how you win elections.”
The longer the election continues, the more lies begin to unravel for Carson. He still is second in the polls amongst likely Republican voters but so was Herman Cain this time during the last election, so it is not an indicator of future political success.
The Pink Panther
High ranking members of the Black Panthers in the late 1970s don’t recall ‘Reggie Ace’ ever being around. “What idiot would call themselves ‘Ace?’ Sounds made up to me,” former Black Panther member Charles Taylor told Black Magazine.
“Does Dr. Carson look like a Black Panther? I’ve seen pictures of him when he was younger. He looked more like a black Bill Gates, all nerdy and shit. I also don’t know what plots he supposedly foiled. We didn’t plot anything
“Our mission was to help out the black communities that were being persecuted and neglected by the government. White people were afraid of us at the time, but all we did was help feed, clothe, and provide shelter for the poor. Many poor black kids got an education because of us.
“If you ask me, Ben Carson is a narcissistic nut job and pathological liar. He was never and never will be, a Black Panther. But I guess those traits make you a good politician.”
