Cubs Fans Flip Over Mets Bus After Season Ending Loss In Chicago

flipped over mets busDrunk and angry Cubs fans flipped over the Mets bus with the players on it after the Cubs lost 8-3 to end their World Series hopes. The incident occurred at approximately 11:25 pm central time as the Mets team attempted to leave Wrigleyville on route to O’Hare International Airport for their flight back to New York.

Police on the scene allowed the fans to flip the bus but broke up the crowd once some fans began dumping gasoline on the backend of the bus. “Okay, nothing to see here folks,” said one police officer to the crowd of Cubs fans. Ambulances were then called onto the scene where a few of the Mets players were taken to nearby Northwestern Memorial Hospital.

Chicago Police Department (CPD) officer Murphy O’Neill told reporters, “We didn’t think they could actually flip the bus over. I lost fifty bucks on that bet. I guess the whiskey drunk strength helped them out. The Cubs hitters could have used some of that.”

Mets manager Terry Collins was extremely upset over the incident. “It was scary as Hell. I know the fans were angry from the loss, but flipping over a bus is rarely the answer.”

Mets third baseman David Wright said, “We went from celebrating with champagne to some of us being taken to the hospital. It was truly uncalled for. We expect that behavior from Boston of Philly fans but not Chicago.”

Police Chief Gary McCarthy said, “We will not look into the matter because it seems like a lot of paperwork to fill out. Besides, the season is over, and the Mets won’t be in town again until next summer. Let’s just be happy that no one died and the Blackhawks are starting to play better hockey.”
