Republican candidate Donald Trump has vowed to round up all the socialists in Hollywood and determine if they are patriotic Americans or enemies trying to destroy America from within. “If elected, I will get to the bottom of the Hollywood socialist agenda that threatens our very way of life,” said Trump.
“The Hollywood folks are very dangerous, trust me, I know lots of them and have done business with them. Many celebrities helped keep open my Atlantic City casino for an extra year with all the money they lost, and that shows you the type of character we are dealing with.”
This vow is very similar to the McCarthy Hearings and investigation when Senator Joe McCarthy rounded up presumed communist in Hollywood and tried charging them with treason. Since then, Washington D.C. has always been skeptical of entertainers and their ability to influencing the American public for better or worse.
Trump told Variety, “I have a very simple litmus test, if you support Bernie Sanders, you are a scummy socialist that needs to be dealt with. My tactics will make Joe McCarthy look like a pussy cat.
“I already started my list; Bill Maher, Seth MacFarlane, Sarah Silverman, and Joe Pesci. These enemies of capitalism will be rounded up and tortured for information on who else are socialist in the wasteland of Hollywood.”
Hollywood has historically leaned to the left and has helped raise money for numerous Democrats over the years. Current President Obama visits Hollywood to raise money for the Democratic National Committee (DNC) nearly once a month, and Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton has frequently raised money in the City of Angels.
While the idea of Trump rounding up socialist to be tortured frightens some voters, it plays very well to the Republican base and the Bible Belt States. The strategy of attacking Hollywood is nothing new but in classic Trump fashion, he is willing to take it ten steps further.
Trump currently leads the GOP nominee poll with 25% support, this is 4% more than his second place rival, Ben Carson.
