In Game 1 of baseball’s National League Championship Series (NLCS), a majority of Hispanic players wore face warmers, an observation Republican candidate Donald Trump was quick to point out. Trump told ESPN Deportes Radio, “The Hispanic players look like wussies wearing those face warmers and playing America’s pastime.”
The ‘face warmers’ Trump referenced are similar to snow-skiing masks but specially designed for cold weather baseball games.
Trump continued, “You don’t see white players wearing them, or even black players. That’s not being racist, you can watch the baseball games and see for yourself.
“If you can’t stand a little cold weather, and not even that cold by the way, then go back to Mexico. They have their own league down there to play in.”
Trump, to be bi-partisan, complained about both baseball teams. “You have Hispanic player number one, number two and three for the Cubs, I don’t know their names, and Cespedes for the Mets. They can’t handle a little cold without dressing like an Eskimo. All that muscle and they dress like pussies, pardon my langue, but it’s true. We all know it’s true.
“What are they trying to hide under those masks?”
