Los Angeles- A seven car pileup occurred during rush hour on Wednesday at the intersection of Cahuenga and Franklin in the Hollywood neighbourhood leaving three dead and five injured when two men of pop star’s Chris Brown’s entourage were racing on their ‘hoverboards’. The accident caused major traffic for several hours as workers cleaned up the tragic accident and left Hollywood commuters trying to reach the 101 freeway.

The crashes occurred as cars veered off the road and into opposite lanes as the lights changed color at the intersection with the ‘hoverboarders’ riding through to the finish line. One car drove into the corner coffee shop where patrons of Solar de Cahuenga dove for cover as the sound and sight of glass, bricks, and metal spewed into the shop. Luckily, only minor scrapes and bruises were documented at the neighborhood coffee shop.

One of the ‘hoverboarders’ died and the other was critically injured in the race. A moped driver was also killed as well as a Prius driver who was crushed by a Suburban. The five injured and three dead were taken to Kaiser Permanente Los Angeles Medical Center on Sunset Boulevard where their statuses are still being monitored. Names have not been released as this story went to print.

The hoverboard race was for 20 blunts and a two bottles of Jack Daniels at any Hollywood nightclub in what was called the ‘Championship Hover Blunt Race.’ One of Chris Brown’s entourage members said, “We should have done the race at a different time of day when the street wasn’t so busy. Our bad.”

Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti called for tighter regulations on ‘hoverboards’ telling the LA Times, “The fake hoverboards don’t even go very fast, nor do they actually hover, they have wheels. So why the Hell would you race them on a busy street with cars?

“I’m proposing ‘hoverboard’ regulations that would require riders to obtain a permit to ride one in public. They will need to take a written and hoverboard driving test. They can obtain such a license at the local DMV. If waiting at the DMV doesn’t deter bad riders, nothing will.”

Chris Brown was not present at the race but has offered everyone involved free blunts and hoverboards for their trouble.
